“...a bit like Brian Eno set loose on an obscure German krautrock record from the late ’70s, with a pipette’s worth of Animal Collective dropped into his eyeballs.” - ArtRocker
Mary Anne Hobbs - “Love Left of Manila”
Broadcasting from Oxford and Berlin, British electronica duo Left of Manila craft an idiosyncratic world mixing hypnotic rhythms with lush, synthesised landscapes and mantric vocals. Ed Bentley and Mish Pharaon, met in the Alpine town of Chambery, France, whilst at university, and bonded over a love of weird psychedelia and electronic music, putting on nights fusing Mish's decks and Ed’s guitars. Together as Left of Manila the pair have been releasing their infectious, often experimental sonics since 2011.
Debut album ‘Seven Sisters’ (08/07/2022) features stunning collaborations from upcoming Ghanaian Londoner Jeff Darko and the award winning Dear Reader, and comes accompanied by dance-floor focused remixes from Tom Adams and Berlin-based producer Franz Matthews.
